Famous Nollywood actor, Murphy Afolabi is dead, aged 49.
The honored Yoruba actor died in his residence in the early hours of Sunday.
Veteran film director and producer, Tunde Ola-Yusuf confirmed the passing via his Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
“Rest in peace. May God give the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss,” he wrote.
The deceased celebrated his birthday just over a week ago, Friday, May 5.
Murphy, who started his career with a movie titled ‘Ifa Olokun’ under Dagunro’s guidance, featured in and produced several movies, including “Enu,” “Gbolahan,” “Owo Ale,” “Asake,” and “Igbekun,” among others. He won several awards for his contributions to the Nigerian film industry, including the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Yoruba) at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2012.
Murphy Afolabi’s real name was Olalekan Olatubosun Afolabi. He was also known by the nickname “Mufasa.”
