Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on Nigerians to embrace collective responsibility, warning that no miracle will transform the country without deliberate and united action.

Obasanjo made the remark on Thursday at the Sixth Annual Colloquium held to mark the 65th birthday of Itua Ighodalo, founder of Trinity Church. The event, themed “The Future of Nigeria,” focused on discussions about the nation’s development.

Represented by Prof. Adedeji Daramola on behalf of the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute, the former president stressed that nation-building requires the active participation of all citizens, regardless of their background or profession.

He cautioned against relying on sudden miracles, noting that meaningful progress can only be achieved when Nigerians come together to confront the country’s challenges.

According to him, while leadership plays a key role, sustainable development depends on shared accountability and collective effort. He also emphasised the need to involve young people in governance, describing them as critical to Nigeria’s future.

Obasanjo further highlighted the country’s large youth population as an asset, urging stakeholders to harness opportunities in technology and innovation, including artificial intelligence, to drive long-term growth.
