The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has officially increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, at its retail outlets.

The new pump price now stands at ₦955 per litre, up from the previous ₦890 — marking a ₦65 increase.

This adjustment has already taken effect in key areas of Abuja, including outlets along Kubwa Expressway, Wuse, and other locations. The price hike has also been implemented at NNPCL outlets in Kogi and Nasarawa states.

The development comes on the heels of similar increases by independent marketers and private filling station operators, who raised their petrol prices over the weekend to between ₦950 and ₦971 per litre. Their action followed an upward review of the ex-depot price by Dangote Refinery, which raised its PMS selling price to ₦858 per litre, up from ₦820.

The new pricing structure is expected to further impact transportation and living costs across the country, intensifying public concerns over rising fuel prices and inflation.
