Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has apologised to fans who lost money after betting on her to defeat reality TV star Phyna in their celebrity boxing bout.
The actress made the apology in a video following her fourth-round knockout loss to Phyna at Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Nkechi said she had never participated in a fight before and described the experience as a new one for her. She also thanked those who supported her throughout the build-up to the bout, saying the experience showed her those who genuinely stood by her as well as those who mocked her online.
She particularly apologised to fans who had placed bets on her to win but lost their money, while maintaining a light-hearted tone about the outcome.
Phyna stopped Nkechi in the fourth and final round to win the historic female celebrity boxing bout and received ₦50 million, a championship belt and a new car.
