Head coach of the Super Eagles, Éric Chelle, has expressed confidence that newly invited winger Yira Sor Collins will quickly win over Nigerian fans.
The 25-year-old forward, who plays for Belgian side Genk, has joined the team’s camp in Turkey ahead of a four-nation tournament and is in line to make his debut in Friday’s clash against Iran.
Despite registering four goals and one assist in 24 appearances this season, Chelle believes the winger’s quality goes beyond statistics. He described Sor as an exciting player with notable talent, adding that his performances will speak for themselves once he steps onto the pitch.
According to the coach, Sor is among players plying their trade in less prominent leagues but possessing the ability to make a strong impact at the international level.
Nigeria is scheduled to face Iran on Friday before taking on Jordan on Tuesday, with both opponents using the fixtures as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup—a tournament the Super Eagles failed to qualify for.
