News Benue gets first Chief Judge of Idoma extraction

A new Chief Judge has been sworn-in for Benue State. He is Honourable Justice Adam Onum, the first to attain such position
from Idoma community, the second largest ethnic group in Benue State.

Ortom, while performing the ceremony at the New Banquet Hall of Benue
Peoples House, Makurid, noted that the appointment of the new Chief
Judge was based on merit and in consonance with core values of his
administration, which include fairness, justice, transparency,
integration among others.

The governor described Justice Onum as an erudite jurist whose
knowledge and practice of law has been beyond reproach, stressing that
he has been upright and fair in the discharge of his duties over the
years.

Ortom expressed hope that the new Chief Judge would open a new vista
in the dispensation of justice, noting that Justice Onum and his
colleagues in the State have been among the best in the county.

He commended the Speaker and other members of the Benue State House
of Assembly for the prompt screening and confirmation of Justice Onum as
Chief Judge, stressing that the action underscoreed the harmonious
working relationship that has existed between the executive and the
legislature.

Responding, the Chief Judge who expressed appreciation to Governor
Ortom for finding him worthy of the appointment, promised to uphold the
tenets of an incorruptible justice system in the state.
