The historic event took place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Golden Bide Hotel in Rayfield, Jos. Dr. Okhai, a respected filmmaker and co-founder of the Guild, urged directors in Plateau State to seize emerging opportunities within the state’s rich cultural landscape. “Let us enrich our community with creativity and take charge,” he said. “Focus on giving your best, be faithful in the little, and grow the industry from your state to the globe.”

In his inaugural speech, Achor Yusuf, newly appointed Chairman of the Plateau State Chapter, described the event as a “historic milestone” in the Guild’s journey. “The establishment of the Plateau Zone is not just a new chapter; it is a bold step toward redefining storytelling and collaboration in our region,” he said.

Yusuf underscored the importance of perception management and unity among creatives. “We must not see each other as rivals, but as partners in a shared vision,” he noted. “This platform is for unity, creativity, and collective impact.”

Several dignitaries graced the occasion and offered goodwill messages, including Sir Edward Fom, Chairman of the Plateau State Movie Producers Association, and Mrs. Augusta Isaac, Chairperson of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Plateau Chapter. Both charged the DGN to champion the development of the state’s creative industry.

Hon. Amb. Maryam Nafil Imogie, representing the Plateau State Global Alliance for the Ministries and Infrastructures of Peace (GAMIP), pledged partnership support to facilitate training opportunities for the Guild’s members.
