The congress, which took place at Test Hotel & Suites, on Monday 4th May 2026 brought together party delegates, stakeholders, and supporters from across the state.

In his acceptance speech, Ndam said the new leadership would focus on building the party “from the bottom up,” emphasizing that sustainable political success must be rooted in strong grassroots structures.

“We accept the responsibility to serve and to build a solid foundation for the party. Our goal is to take NDC to an enviable height and secure victory across all levels in 2027,” he stated.

He expressed confidence that the party would make significant gains in the next election cycle, promising to address pressing issues such as unemployment, insecurity, and social divisions across the state.

The congress witnessed a surge of interest from new members, with party officials disclosing that over 250,000 registrations had been recorded within a short period. Ndam described the development as evidence of growing public confidence in the party’s vision.

Also speaking, a state party leader, Chief Jonathan Sunday Akuns, said the NDC was founded on the principles of peace, inclusivity, and people-centered governance. He noted that the party’s ideology focuses on addressing the unique needs of communities rather than adopting a uniform approach.

“The NDC is committed to restoring peace and progress by bringing people together and providing solutions that reflect their realities,” he said.

In his remarks, political figure Alhaji Y.M. Shafiu urged the newly elected executives to embrace inclusivity and unity, stressing that the success of the party would depend on its ability to accommodate diverse interests. He expressed confidence in the leadership of Ndam, describing him as capable of steering the party toward growth and stability.

Other stakeholders, including Congress Committee Chairman Samuel Odeh, Hon. Nuhu Madaki Gwong of Riyom Local Government Area, Mr. Pius Gyang Chomo of the Obedient Movement, and State Secretary Steve Dachomo, also pledged their support for the new leadership and called for collective efforts to strengthen the party’s structures.

Party leaders noted that the presence and involvement of influential political actors like Peter Obi has further energized supporters and signaled a broader alignment among opposition figures ahead of 2027.

The congress concluded with renewed optimism, as the NDC leadership vowed to intensify mobilization efforts, deepen grassroots engagement, and position the party as a formidable force in Plateau State politics.
