Nigerian music star Davido has unfollowed actress and activist Iyabo Ojo on Instagram, following the circulation of leaked WhatsApp messages where she allegedly accused him of chasing clout over the late singer Mohbad’s case.
The development comes after controversial social media critic VeryDarkMan shared a screenshot of the group chat, in which Iyabo Ojo criticized Davido for maintaining his social media connection with Naira Marley, despite publicly expressing support for justice in Mohbad’s case.
In the leaked conversation, Iyabo Ojo reportedly expressed disappointment in Davido’s actions, questioning the sincerity of his involvement.
“My problem is not even the black whatever, it is Davido who flew down like he claimed to fight for justice, but he still dey follow Naira Marley.
That means he was chasing clout. I’m so disappointed, and to think he has been saying he is the only superstar artist who stood by Mohbad. Just fake love 001,” she allegedly wrote.
In what appears to be a response to the remarks, Davido unfollowed the actress on Instagram. As of the time of this report, Iyabo Ojo still follows Davido.
The rift comes months after the death of Mohbad in 2023, which sparked nationwide outrage and calls for justice. Celebrities including Davido, Falz, and Zlatan Ibile participated in a candlelight procession held in the late singer’s honour.
Iyabo Ojo was a prominent face in the #JusticeForMohbad movement and was said to have coordinated several advocacy efforts, including the creation of a WhatsApp group for stakeholders. However, she later expressed regret in a media interview over supporting the exhumation of Mohbad’s body.
As the fallout between the two public figures trends online, fans and observers continue to react to the growing cracks among celebrities who initially united in the fight for justice.
