Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has etched his name further into English football history by winning the 2025 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) men’s Player of the Year award — becoming the first player ever to claim the honour three times.
The 33-year-old Egyptian was central to Liverpool’s Premier League title triumph last season, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals while also providing 18 assists. His stellar campaign had already seen him named Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
Reflecting on his journey from humble beginnings in Nagrig, Egypt, to global stardom, Salah said:
“Of course, I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don’t think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt. When you grow, you start to see things differently, and you start to have ambition, and you start to see the bigger picture.”
Salah edged out competition from teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Arsenal’s Declan Rice to clinch the prestigious award.
