Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, received a warm reception from party supporters and residents across the constituency as he embarked on a thank-you tour following his victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The tour took the federal lawmaker to Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Local Government Areas, where large crowds gathered to welcome him alongside party leaders, ward executives, stakeholders, and loyalists of the All Progressives Congress.

The tour commenced at the constituency office in Pankshin before proceeding to Kabir in Kanke Local Government Area and Dengi in Kanam Local Government Area, where Gagdi also paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kanam, Muhammadu Mu’azu Muhammadu II.

Speaking during the tour, Gagdi said appreciating the people had always been part of his political culture, regardless of victory or defeat.

“I am a politician and this is my fourth time of being elected into office. It has always been part of my character to appreciate the people whenever I win or lose elections,” he said.

The lawmaker noted that the massive turnout witnessed across the three local government areas reflected his grassroots acceptance and relationship with the people.

According to him, he deliberately chose not to respond to criticisms and rumours surrounding the primary election process, preferring instead to allow his supporters and political activities speak for him.

“I have decided to be a different kind of politician who does not respond to every allegation or propaganda. I allow my actions and the support of the people to respond,” he stated.

Gagdi called on his political opponents and critics to join hands with him in the interest of the constituency, stressing that politics should not be treated as a do-or-die affair.

“The constituency does not belong to me alone. I am only representing the people. I call on everyone to join the winning team so we can continue working together for the development of our people,” he added.

He also urged members of the party to remain united and peaceful following the conclusion of the APC primaries, expressing confidence that the party was prepared for the 2027 general elections.

During the courtesy visit, the Emir of Kanam, Muhammadu Mu’azu Muhammadu II, congratulated Gagdi on his victory and urged him and his team to continue prioritising the welfare of the people.

The monarch also called for greater unity and peace across the constituency and beyond.

Speaking earlier at the APC constituency office in Pankshin, the APC Chairman in Pankshin Local Government Area, Yakubu Damulak, expressed gratitude for the successful conduct of the primaries and prayed for greater success for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gagdi, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Navy, emerged winner of the APC primary election conducted on May 16, 2026.

Declaring the results, the Returning Officer, Nandom Andrew Kura, announced that Gagdi polled 29,207 votes out of the 31,150 votes cast across the constituency.
