Manchester United’s board has reacted to the club’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham on Monday night. According to Guardian UK, the club is prepared to stick with Mourinho despite a troubled start to the new season.

The defeat to Tottenham followed a 2-1 loss to Brighton in their second game of the season.

Tottenham handed Mourinho his heaviest defeat yet in a home match in
all competitions as two goals from Lucas Moura and a header from Harry
Kane helped Mauricio Pochettino’s men continue their 100 per cent start
to the new season.

United are already six points behind Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool
and Watford and face a difficult trip to Burnley this weekend, hoping to
turn the tide.

Mourinho had told Sky Sports after the defeat, “We work all week, and
by the strategic point of view we didn’t lose, by the tactical point of
view we didn’t lose, but we lost the game.

“We work very, very well during the week, we prepared the game very
well, we played very well, the players had a fantastic attitude.

“At half-time the result should be two goals different minimum – 2-0,
3-1, 3-0. And then something changed the game a little bit.

“Then the result was 2-0 but the team was in the game, and I think
everyone could feel one goal could change the direction of the game.”

Guardian reports that United chiefs saw enough in the first half
performance to suggest Mourinho is worth sticking with as the club’s
manager.
