The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over the alleged killing of a youth and the destruction of a community in Plateau State.
The association called on the police authorities to investigate the reported incidents, identify those responsible and ensure that justice is served.
The petition comes amid persistent security challenges in parts of Plateau State, particularly in communities affected by recurring violence involving farming and herding groups. The unrest has resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property and growing concerns over the safety of residents.
MACBAN has repeatedly called on security agencies to investigate attacks against its members and their livestock, while urging authorities to avoid premature conclusions about the identities of suspected perpetrators before investigations are completed.
The association has also advocated for impartial investigations into violent incidents and called for measures to protect lives and property, regardless of ethnic or religious background.
The latest petition adds to growing calls for stronger security measures and accountability in Plateau State, where several communities continue to grapple with recurring attacks and reprisals.
The police are expected to investigate the allegations and establish the circumstances surrounding the reported killing and destruction.
