American rapper Nicki Minaj has reacted to recent killings in Plateau State, Nigeria, sharing a prayer for divine guidance amid reports of renewed violence in communities around the state.
Minaj shared a report focusing on Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a cleric in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, who has been involved in burying victims of recent attacks.
“Lord, if we hear from you, then we will know what to do,” the rapper wrote alongside the report.
Her post comes amid a fresh wave of violence reported in parts of Plateau State, including attacks around Gassa and Chit on September 24, 2026.
According to reports citing the Berom Youth Moulders Association, three members of a community watch group were killed in the Gassa attack. They were identified as Ishaya Dung, Barnabas Jack and Manasseh Mushwer.
Reports also indicated that other deaths were recorded in surrounding communities, although some of the wider casualty figures had not been independently verified by security authorities.
The latest incidents followed the deaths of a pastor and a church worker who were reportedly killed while travelling to church on September 20.
Another attack was subsequently reported at a mining site in Marit on September 26. Different reports gave different casualty figures, underscoring the uncertainty surrounding the total number of people killed in the latest incidents.
Nicki Minaj and Nigeria’s violence
Minaj has previously spoken publicly about violence and religious freedom in Nigeria.
In November 2025, she participated in a United Nations-related event focused on violence and religious freedom in Nigeria, where she spoke about attacks on Christians and called for greater attention to the situation.
Her latest intervention, however, was brief and took the form of a prayer rather than a specific policy proposal or attribution of responsibility for the Plateau attacks.
The post has nevertheless drawn renewed international attention to the security situation in Plateau State, where communities have continued to experience deadly attacks.
The Plateau State Government has condemned recent violence in the state, while security authorities have also announced measures aimed at strengthening security and preventing further attacks.
As communities mourn victims of the latest incidents, the circumstances surrounding some of the attacks and the final casualty figures remain subject to further confirmation.
