Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has made a frank admission ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) third-place playoff against Egypt scheduled for Saturday evening.
The Atalanta star revealed that he had not yet turned his attention to the match, citing the disappointment of Nigeria’s semi-final loss to Morocco on Wednesday.
“To be honest, not really thinking about [the Nigeria vs Egypt match], not really thought about that to be honest,” Lookman said during his post-match interview.
“Obviously, because of the disappointment of losing to Morocco.”
Despite the setback, Lookman has been one of Nigeria’s standout performers at the tournament, scoring three goals and providing four assists so far.
The former Everton forward is expected to play a key role as the Super Eagles face the Pharaohs in the third-place encounter in Casablanca, with Nigeria hoping to end their AFCON campaign on a positive note.
