The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has embarked on a series of condolence visits to bereaved families and traditional institutions, reiterating his administration’s commitment to peace, security, and community wellbeing.
During a visit to the residence of the late District Head of Kwallak, Ponzhi Kwallak, Patrick Vongtim, the chairman sympathized with the family, the Tarok Traditional Council, and the Kwallak community over the killing of the monarch in a violent robbery incident.
Tyem conveyed the condolences of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, describing the incident as tragic and a reflection of rising criminality. He stressed that such acts undermine the moral and cultural values of society and must be decisively addressed.
He urged residents to remain calm as burial arrangements proceed, calling for a peaceful and dignified farewell for the late traditional ruler. While acknowledging the inevitability of death, the chairman described the circumstances surrounding the monarch’s killing as deeply troubling.
The chairman further highlighted the need to confront growing insecurity, linking it to declining family values and social discipline. He called on parents, community leaders, and residents to work collectively in guiding young people away from crime and restoring societal values.
Tyem assured the community of strengthened collaboration between his administration, traditional institutions, and security agencies, including plans for joint patrols and other proactive measures to safeguard lives and property across the local government.
Responding on behalf of the traditional council, the Acting Ponzhi Tarok, Zinni Nimnan Langnim, commended the chairman for his leadership and presence during the period of mourning. He described the incident as a symptom of broader societal challenges, including weakening family structures and growing indiscipline.
He urged families to be more deliberate in raising responsible children, warning that unchecked minor misconduct could escalate into serious criminal behaviour. He also called for stronger grassroots collaboration in addressing insecurity.
The council pledged its support to the local government in efforts to combat crime and restore peace in the area.
Community stakeholders, including business operators and commercial motorcycle riders, were also advised to remain vigilant and avoid providing refuge for criminal elements.
The Councillor representing Kwallak Ward, Yilkur Isa, condemned the killing and appreciated the support shown by the state government, local authorities, and traditional leaders.
In a related development, the chairman also paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Adama Danga, describing her death as a painful loss and encouraging the family to remain steadfast.
The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity in Langtang North, pledging continued collaboration with all stakeholders to build a safer and more cohesive society.
