The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered an indoor cannabis cultivation facility operating inside a residential property in Lagos State.
Footage from the police operation showed a room allegedly converted into a cannabis farm, where the plants were being cultivated in cups under controlled conditions. The plants reportedly take at least three months to mature before they can be harvested and sold.
A man linked to the property told investigators that he had allowed a foreign national, who was reportedly facing difficulties in Nigeria, to use the room after offering to help him return to his home country.
He claimed that the idea of cultivating cannabis was introduced by the foreign national and maintained that he had no intention of making money from the operation.
According to him, the alleged arrangement came to light when the foreign national attempted to sell the cultivated plants.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police described the discovery as another achievement in the command’s efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking.
The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities within their neighbourhoods to security authorities.
