Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that the death of his mother earlier this year was the reason behind his recent break from music.
The singer made the disclosure on Friday while responding to a fan on X who suggested that he had been away from the music scene because he was working on a new album.
Kizz Daniel clarified that his absence was instead linked to the loss of his mother.
“I paused for my Mom not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year,” he wrote.
The revelation attracted messages of sympathy from fans, who offered condolences and prayers for the singer and his family.
Kizz Daniel also indicated that despite the emotional impact of the loss, he has chosen to continue moving forward for the sake of his family.
The singer has experienced other personal losses in recent years. His father, Kola Anidugbe, died in 2015, while in 2021 he lost one of his triplets shortly after their birth.
In 2024, Kizz Daniel also disclosed that his wife had lost her mother to breast cancer. He publicly asked his fans to pray for his wife and her late mother at the time.
The latest disclosure offers an explanation for the singer’s reduced musical activity in 2026, with Kizz Daniel saying his break was motivated by bereavement rather than preparations for a new album.
Despite the losses, the singer said he remains committed to supporting his family and returning to his music activities.
