The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Ireti Kingibe, has disclosed details of a tense phone conversation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, which she said escalated into a shouting match before being resolved through intervention.
Speaking on Channels Television’s programme Politics Today on Friday, Kingibe said she repeatedly called the minister over what she described as an urgent issue, but he initially did not respond.
According to the lawmaker, when Wike eventually answered, the conversation quickly became heated, with both parties raising their voices before ending the call.
She explained that the matter was later resolved after Senate President Godswill Akpabio intervened by initiating a three-way conversation.
Kingibe said she had insisted on reaching the minister because of the urgency of the issue and even offered to visit his office in person, but Wike advised her against coming at the time.
Despite the earlier tension, she indicated that the subsequent intervention helped calm the situation and address the concern.
