Kebbi Police Pay N11.4m Insurance Benefits to Families of Fallen Officers

The Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has presented cheques totalling N11.4 million to 18 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of police officers who died while in active service.

The payments, amounting to N11,400,252.35, were made under the Police Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident insurance schemes.

The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

Speaking during the presentation, Hadejia reaffirmed the commitment of the police authorities to the welfare of officers and families of personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He said the contributions and sacrifices of the deceased officers to the nation remained appreciated and would not be forgotten.

The commissioner said the insurance benefits were intended to provide financial support to the affected families, adding that the welfare of police personnel and their dependants remained a priority of the Force.

He urged the beneficiaries to regard the payment as part of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued support for families of fallen officers.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Management Team and the Kebbi State Police Command for the intervention, describing it as a demonstration of concern for the families left behind by the deceased officers.

The Kebbi disbursement formed part of a wider nationwide insurance payment to families and next-of-kin of police officers who died in active service. Across six states, the Police Force reportedly disbursed N181.78 million to 158 beneficiaries.
