The Kano Government House has begun early preparations to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as party flags and colours are now prominently displayed across the premises.
Areas previously decorated with the flags of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have been replaced with APC insignia, signalling the governor’s anticipated formal defection to the ruling party.
Although there was no large crowd around the Government House at the time of observation, the city is already gearing up for what is being described as the final stage of the defection process.
Former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is already in the state to witness what aides describe as the formal defection rituals of Governor Yusuf into the APC.
Ganduje, who recently returned from London via Abuja, arrived in Kano late on Monday evening to participate in what supporters have called a historic political moment.
