The Plateau State Government has imposed an immediate dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas following emerging security concerns in the affected communities.
The curfew takes effect Monday, September 21, 2026, and restricts movement between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily until further notice.
The government said the measure is aimed at maintaining public order, protecting lives and property, and giving security agencies the opportunity to stabilise the affected areas and prevent a breakdown of law and order.
Residents of the three local government areas have been directed to comply fully with the restriction and plan their commercial, agricultural and personal activities around the curfew hours.
The government also announced an immediate ban on the use of motorcycles throughout the affected jurisdictions, with security agencies directed to strictly enforce both the curfew and motorcycle restriction.
While urging residents to remain calm and law-abiding, the government assured citizens that security personnel deployed to enforce the measures would operate professionally.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, on Monday.
The government urged residents to cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to address the security situation in the affected local government areas.
