JUST IN: Barji Emerges APC Plateau Central Senatorial Candidate as Diket Plang Loses Re-Election Bid

Barji David Bitrus has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Plateau Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The results of the direct primary election were announced by the returning officer for the zone, Sadat Garga, at MNS Hotel in Pankshin.

According to the results declared, Barji polled a total of 57,727 votes to secure the APC senatorial ticket.

The incumbent senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Diket Satso Plang, lost his bid for re-election after scoring 1,423 votes in the exercise.

Other aspirants who participated in the primary election included Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, who scored 1,322 votes; James Shwarpshakka Yusuf, 574 votes; Zachariah John, 670 votes; Mankilik Isaac, 282 votes; and Beatrice Clement James, 652 votes.

The direct primary election was conducted across the five local government areas that make up the Plateau Central Senatorial District, including Mangu Local Government Area, Bokkos Local Government Area, Pankshin Local Government Area, Kanke Local Government Area, and Kanam Local Government Area.

With the outcome of the primary election, Barji David Bitrus is expected to fly the APC flag for the Plateau Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
