Music executive and former P-Square manager, Jude Okoye, has denied allegations of financial misconduct made by his younger brother, Peter Okoye, insisting that the claims are false and have already been addressed during investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and are currently before the court.
In a lengthy video titled “Debunking the Lies,” Jude responded to several accusations raised by Peter in his recent tell-all series.
Addressing Peter’s allegation that he and Paul Okoye diverted a royalty payment of about $25,000, Jude said the payment was made according to instructions Peter personally gave in 2016. He displayed what he said was an email from digital distributor Iroko, which allegedly showed that Peter requested his own share of the royalties to be paid directly to him, while the remaining balance belonging to Jude and Paul was paid into the Northside Entertainment account.
Jude also rejected claims that Peter had been removed as a signatory to the company’s bank accounts. Presenting what he described as the official bank mandate, he maintained that Peter remained a signatory to all P-Square accounts and said the same documents had already been tendered in court.
Responding to Peter’s claim that it took three and a half months to hand over P-Square’s music catalogue backend records, Jude said Peter requested the records in October 2022 and received them six days later. He added that download logs allegedly showed the files were accessed the same day they were sent.
On Peter’s assertion that he only recently began receiving royalty payments in U.S. dollars, Jude displayed what he claimed were payment records showing that Peter had been receiving dollar royalties since 2012.
Jude further denied allegations that more than $1.2 million in royalties had been diverted, insisting that all payments and distributions were properly documented and shared in line with existing agreements.
He accused Peter of attempting to sway public opinion through social media while the matter remains before the court, adding that he would not comment further on issues that are part of the ongoing legal proceedings beyond correcting what he described as false narratives.
The dispute between the Okoye brothers remains the subject of ongoing legal proceedings, and the allegations and denials have not yet been conclusively determined by the court.
