A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has vowed never to appear on Arise Television again unless one of its presenters, Rufai Oseni, is removed from the station.
Igbokwe made the declaration in a Facebook post on Tuesday while reacting to the heated exchange between the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Rufai during an interview on The Morning Show on Monday.
In a viral clip, Umahi became visibly irritated over Rufai’s questions concerning the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project, asking the journalist to “keep quiet.” The minister insisted he was a professor in engineering and well-versed in federal projects — a claim Rufai pressed further by asking when he attained professorship.
Commenting on the incident, Igbokwe wrote, “I will never go there again until Rufai Oseni is removed. The Animal Science graduate is making a mockery of journalism. Television station is not a place for mediocres and noise makers.”
The APC chieftain accused the station of becoming “a TV station of anything goes,” adding that he would only return for interviews if the management addresses what he described as unprofessional conduct.
