The Plateau State chapter of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has condemned the recent killings in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, describing the incident as a serious threat to peace and coexistence in the state.

In a press statement issued on March 30, 2026, and signed by its Secretary, Salim Musa Umar, the organization expressed shock and deep sorrow over the attack, which claimed the lives of several innocent residents.

JNI described the incident as “barbaric and senseless,” stressing that the sanctity of human life must be upheld at all times and under all circumstances.

The group extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the repose of the deceased, while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.

It also urged residents across Plateau State to remain calm and law-abiding, cautioning against reprisals that could escalate tensions in affected communities.

“At this critical moment, we urge all citizens to exercise restraint. We must not allow anger and grief to push us into actions that could worsen the situation,” the statement said.

JNI further called on security agencies to launch a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need to identify and prosecute those responsible.

The organization noted that justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done in order to restore public confidence and prevent future occurrences.

It also urged government authorities, community leaders, and religious stakeholders to intensify efforts toward peacebuilding, dialogue, and reconciliation.

JNI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity, justice, and peaceful coexistence in Plateau State and across Nigeria.
