The Plateau Peace Building Agency (PPBA), in collaboration with GIZ Peace Corp and the Plateau Peace Practitioners Network (PPPN), on Saturday, September 20, 2025, organized a symbolic Peace Walk in Jos to commemorate the International Day of Peace.

This year’s global theme, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” was localized by the agency as “Act Now for a Peaceful Plateau,” forming part of a series of month-long activities dedicated to promoting peace across the state.

Speaking during the event, the Director-General of PPBA, Dr. Julie G. Sanda, urged residents to see peace as a collective responsibility. Ppba, giz, pppn, peace walk ,2025 peace day 00

“The time for peace in Plateau is now. Our vision is to build a Plateau at peace with itself and the rest of the world. Peace must start from us, from our homes, and from our communities,” she said, while appreciating the support of partners and participants who turned out for the annual walk.

The Head of Program, GIZ Peace Corp, Ms. Myriam Wedraoeo, emphasized the importance of inclusivity in peacebuilding efforts.

“We are proud of the strong mobilization of youth, women, men, children, and persons with disabilities for this walk. Beyond symbolism, this reflects our individual and collective steps towards building a peaceful and inclusive society. Peace remains a priority for the German government through the Peace Corps project,” she stated, noting that sustainable peace is key to Nigeria-German partnership goals.

“The symbol of today’s walk is that peace can only be achieved together. This is not just an event, but part of ongoing efforts to nurture harmony on the Plateau,” he said.
