The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has introduced Quick Response (QR) codes to help eligible voters locate designated Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative was announced by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lagos State, Professor Ayobami Salami, during a press briefing at the commission’s headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
According to the commission, the QR codes will be accessible through its official website and social media platforms, allowing voters to scan the codes and identify the centres where they can collect their cards.
Salami urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs promptly, verify their registration details and rely on official channels for accurate election-related information. He stressed the importance of voter participation as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
The REC disclosed that PVCs are currently available for individuals who registered between August 25 and December 10, 2025, as well as those who registered between 2011 and 2022 but have yet to collect their cards.
However, cards for individuals who registered between January 5 and July 26, 2026, are not yet available. The commission said further information on their collection would be communicated through its official channels.
INEC also disclosed that preparations for the elections were ongoing, including the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, improvements to election result transmission systems, logistics planning, and the recruitment and training of electoral personnel.
The commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring an efficient electoral process and encouraged eligible voters to take advantage of the available services to confirm their registration details and collect their PVCs ahead of election day.
