The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has handed over leadership of the commission to Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, the oldest serving National Commissioner.
Professor Yakubu made the announcement on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
Agbamuche-Mbu will serve as the Acting National Chairman of the electoral body pending the appointment of a substantive chairman by the Federal Government.
In his remarks, Professor Yakubu urged INEC commissioners and directors to extend their full cooperation and support to the acting chairman to ensure continuity and stability in the commission’s operations.
