Versatile Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta is trending on social media following reports of his impressive earnings per movie role.

Veteran actor Mustapha Bakare Otolo made the revelation in a now-viral interview while discussing the challenges veteran actors face in producing cinema-standard movies.

According to Otolo, while many veteran actors earn between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000 per role, Chatta’s current fee has reportedly risen to ₦5 million per movie, making him one of the highest-paid actors in the Nigerian film industry.

“If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid ₦5 million. That’s the amount he currently charges. He is the highest-paid actor presently. So, my point is that he can do up to 20 jobs in a month,” Otolo said.

He added that he recently featured Chatta in his movie Jigi, shot in Ogbomoso, and emphasized the gap between the earnings of veteran actors and those of more commercially active stars.

“You can’t compare him and other young actors to some of us that are being paid between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000 and appear in just one or two films a month. That’s why it’s difficult for some of us veterans to produce cinema movies,” he explained.

The revelation has sparked mixed reactions among Nollywood fans, with many commending Chatta’s success and others calling for better welfare and opportunities for older actors in the industry.
