A Ghanaian traditional spiritualist, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, has claimed he will place a curse on England captain Harry Kane ahead of Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup encounter between England and Ghana.

Both teams are aiming to secure crucial points to top their group and strengthen their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Kwaku Bonsam, a self-proclaimed spiritual healer, said he intends to use his “powers” to stop Kane, who scored twice in England’s opening victory over Croatia.

“I am working on Harry Kane. I have shown what I am capable of before, so I know what work I must do to stop him. I am very famous for my predictions,” he said.

He added that his intention was not to cause injury to the striker but to ensure he is ineffective during the match.

“I am not wishing him serious injury. It will be just enough to stop him against my country. I will do my work so that it can help Ghana,” he said.

Bonsam, who claims to draw his spiritual authority from the Kofi Oo Kofi shrine, has previously made similar statements about high-profile players. In 2014, he claimed responsibility for Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence from Portugal’s match against Ghana during the World Cup.

He had previously stated that he would “work on” Ronaldo to prevent him from playing, insisting that his actions were spiritually driven.

The latest comments have sparked reactions online as fans of both teams build anticipation ahead of the high-profile Group clash between England and Ghana.
