Nigerian financial coach and social media personality Gehgeh has apologised after facing criticism from social media users following news of his wedding, with many accusing him of contradicting his long-held views on relationships and marriage.
Gehgeh, who has built an online following by frequently advising men against spending excessively on women or rushing into marriage, addressed the backlash in a humorous video shared on his social media platforms.
In the video, he jokingly described himself as a hypocrite, admitting that he had failed to practise the same principles he often preached.
He also apologised to men who claimed his relationship advice had contributed to the breakdown of their relationships, urging them to reconcile with their girlfriends or wives if they still had the opportunity.
Gehgeh further appealed to women to forgive their partners if they returned seeking reconciliation, humorously taking responsibility for the relationship problems some of his followers blamed on his teachings.
Maintaining the light-hearted tone of the video, he jokingly called on the Nigerian government to ban artificial intelligence, claiming that the wedding photos and videos circulating online were AI-generated.
He sarcastically added that Nigerian women were using artificial intelligence to edit men into marriage.
The content creator also responded to men who alleged that his advice ruined their relationships, arguing that no one would abandon a truly valuable partner simply because of another person’s opinion.
According to him, if someone ended a relationship based solely on his comments, it suggested the relationship was already weak before his advice.
He made a similar point in a post on X, stating that any relationship that collapsed because of his opinions was likely not strong enough in the first place.
The humorous apology has continued to generate reactions online, with many social media users describing the video as entertaining, while others viewed it as a playful acknowledgement of the irony between his previous teachings and his recent marriage.
