The Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has disclosed that he consulted and received the approval of Peter Obi, the party’s former presidential candidate, before joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Rhodes-Vivour made this known on Sunday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“Yes, certainly. A representative of his was at the declaration on Saturday. Peter Obi and I are communicating, we are aligned. There is no step I am taking that he is not aware of,” he said.
He explained that his defection was in line with ongoing efforts to build a united opposition ahead of future elections.
“We have all agreed that the only way for the opposition to have a successful election is through a coalition. Regardless of where anybody may be at this time, we are working towards that aim,” Rhodes-Vivour added.
