The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel, comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals, as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, leadership and road safety operations across the country.
The Corps said the promotion was aimed at recognising the dedication, discipline, skills, experience and outstanding performance of personnel who had distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Corps Public Education Officer at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, Osondu Ohaeri, the agency said Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers had been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands.
The decoration exercise is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, August 26, to Friday, August 28, 2026.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, congratulated the newly promoted personnel and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He described the promotion as both a reward for past service and a greater responsibility, stressing that every new rank should translate into improved professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery.
Mohammed noted that the effectiveness of the FRSC depends not only on patrol vehicles, technology and enforcement systems, but also on the quality, character and dedication of its personnel.
He urged the promoted officers and marshals to uphold the integrity of the Corps, treat members of the public with respect and maintain discipline both on and off duty.
The Corps Marshal further encouraged the personnel to see their new ranks as a call to greater service, urging them to “do more, lead better, and serve with greater distinction.”
According to him, the expectations of the FRSC, the Federal Government and Nigerians increase with every additional rank and responsibility entrusted to its personnel.
The promotion comes as the FRSC continues to intensify its operational activities, technology deployment and public education campaigns aimed at reducing road crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide.
The Corps stressed that sustained improvement in road safety requires highly trained, motivated and committed personnel capable of delivering measurable results.
It reminded the newly promoted personnel that within the FRSC, rank is “earned, entrusted, and ultimately measured by service,” and urged them to approach their new responsibilities with renewed commitment to national service.
