A prominent foundation has voiced deep concern as Leah Sharibu, a young Nigerian girl, marks six years in captivity with little to no visible efforts made by the federal government to secure her release since her abduction by Boko Haram militants in 2018.
Dr. Gloria Samdi Puldu, President of the Leadership Empowerment Advocacy and Humanitarian (LEAH) Foundation, directed an appeal to the federal government, specifically through the office of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu. Dr. Puldu emphasized the significance of the First Lady, being a Christian in a nation led by her husband who is a Muslim President, in setting an example of unity and compassion by advocating for Leah Sharibu’s safe return.

Expressing optimism regarding Leah Sharibu’s well-being, Dr. Puldu passionately urged all relevant government agencies to empathize with Leah’s parents and take decisive action towards her rescue. She called upon fellow Nigerians to continue raising their voices in demanding Leah’s release until she is safely returned home.
Joining the call for action, Alice Jumoke Laka-Fashakin, Executive Director of Total Stage To Screen, underscored the urgency of Leah’s situation, stressing that every Nigerian life must be valued and prioritized. Laka-Fashakin urged the First Lady to use her influential voice to champion Leah’s cause, emphasizing that Leah’s release would symbolize a beacon of hope for the nation’s future, transcending religious and gender divides.
“Bring Back Leah Sharibu and many others who have been held back in captivity as the return of this girl will say a lot about the future and hope of this country,” Laka-Fashakin asserted, expressing confidence in the government’s capacity to restore hope and vigor to the nation.
As Leah Sharibu’s ordeal persists, the collective call for action grows louder, urging swift and decisive measures to ensure her safe return and uphold the sanctity of every Nigerian life.
