A former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Prince Miaphen, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Mikang, Shendam, and Qua’an Pan Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.

Miaphen made the declaration at an event in Shendam Local Government Area, attended by party leaders, elected officials, youth groups, and stakeholders from across the constituency.
He described his ambition as a culmination of years of leadership, activism, and grassroots engagement, stating that he is prepared to represent the people at the National Assembly.
“I will bring intellectual capacity, innovation, and inclusive leadership to deliver the kind of representation our people deserve,” he said.

The former student leader outlined key priorities including agricultural development, rural healthcare improvement, and empowerment programmes for youth and women.
Also speaking, current NANS President, Olusola Oladoja, endorsed Miaphen’s candidacy, stressing the importance of youth participation in governance and describing him as a tested leader.
The APC Chairman in Shendam LGA, Hon. Nuhu Rangmen, the Deputy Chairman of Shendam LGA, Hon Paul Gomoro and other stakeholders at the event expressed confidence in Miaphen’s capacity, citing his track record in leadership and community service.
Officials as well as supporters at the gathering said the declaration signals the start of political activities ahead of the 2027 elections in the constituency.
