Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared a chilling account of how her family narrowly escaped death after receiving poisoned food on New Year’s Day.
Speaking in a recent video shared with members of the church, the 77-year-old cleric recalled that the food—sent to their home as part of the usual New Year gifts—was diverted to their dogs after she felt an unusual sense of unease.
“Somebody on one of the New Year Day brought food to our house. Of course, so many people had been coming in, going, and eating,” she said. “I just entered the kitchen and asked who owned the food. They said someone brought it. I looked at it and asked them to give it to the dogs.”
According to her, moments later, one of the gatekeepers returned with the shocking news that the dog had died after eating the food.
“One woman who came from London was looking at me and almost scolded me for wasting food. But an hour later, the gateman came and said the dog is dead,” she recounted.
Adeboye said the incident served as a stark reminder of divine protection and the importance of spiritual discernment, noting that the outcome would have been disastrous if anyone in the household had eaten the poisoned meal.
“Imagine that on a New Year Day, somebody in the house of Daddy G.O ate that food—or three or four people. What would have been the news?” she asked the congregation.
She urged worshippers to remain prayerful and cautious, especially when receiving gifts during festive seasons.
Foluke Adeboye, who married Pastor Enoch Adeboye in 1967, shares three children with the revered cleric.
