Flamingos to Face Benin Republic in Final Qualifying Round for 2026 U-17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, will face Benin Republic in the final qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Flamingos, coached by Akeem Busari, secured their place in the final round after a dominant 11-0 aggregate victory over Guinea in the second round of qualifiers.

After winning the first leg 5-0, Nigeria completed the demolition with a 6-0 triumph at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who also scored in the first leg in Abidjan, netted a brace, opening the scoring in the ninth minute before adding another in the 32nd minute.

Captain Chidi Harmony also impressed with two goals in the 21st and 34th minutes, while Queen Joseph added a third in the 23rd minute. Precious Oscar sealed the emphatic win with the sixth goal in the 70th minute.

Benin Republic reached the final qualifying round after a 5-1 aggregate win over Sierra Leone. The Amazons won the first leg 3-0 at home and followed it with a 2-1 away victory in the return fixture.

The first-leg matches of the final round are scheduled for July 3–5, while the return legs will take place between July 10–12.

The winners of the final qualifying round will represent Africa at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup later this year.
