An Air Peace evacuation flight carrying Nigerian citizens—including women and children—has landed safely at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at about 10:35 a.m. on June 11, following their repatriation from South Africa.

The returnees were received by top federal government officials, including the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), and the Commissioner for Migrants and Refugees.

The officials assured the returnees of immediate government support as well as long-term reintegration assistance aimed at helping them resettle and rebuild their livelihoods.

According to the federal government, the evacuation exercise is part of an ongoing repatriation programme that will continue throughout June 2026. Additional flights are scheduled for June 15, 18, 22, and 24.

Authorities say the operation reflects ongoing efforts to protect and support Nigerian citizens affected by crises abroad, with more coordinated evacuations expected in the coming weeks.
