The Federal Government has moved the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials fully online, ending the requirement for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education in person for physical verification.
The development is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to digitise academic credential verification, reduce delays and make the process more efficient for Nigerians and foreign applicants.
The Federal Ministry of Education said applicants are no longer required to visit the ministry for physical verification, as the authentication and evaluation process can now be completed through the designated online platform.
The ministry explained that the digital system is designed to streamline the verification of academic qualifications and reduce the challenges associated with physical visits, including long queues, delays and administrative bottlenecks.
The move is also expected to improve transparency and strengthen the process of authenticating academic certificates, particularly as the government continues efforts to curb the use of fake or improperly obtained credentials.
Under the new arrangement, applicants can initiate and complete the relevant stages of the verification and evaluation process online without travelling to the Federal Ministry of Education for physical authentication.
The Federal Government had earlier announced the transition to online processing in April 2026, with the ministry stating that physical verification visits would no longer be required.
The latest clarification reinforces the government’s position that academic credential verification is now being handled digitally as part of broader efforts to modernise public services and improve ease of access for applicants.
