The Federal Government has approved a new unified salary structure for employees of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, alongside an updated condition of service.
The approval was conveyed in an official communication from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
According to the letter dated April 29, 2026, and signed by Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, Permanent Secretary, General Services, on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the revised salary structure will take effect from June 1, 2026.
“I am instructed to communicate that the proposed consolidated salary structure for NiMet, with an effective date of June 1, 2026, has been approved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the letter stated.
The document, titled “Re-Request for Salary Relativity Implementation in the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet)” with reference number 58957/S.2/T1/40, further indicated that the approval aligns with an earlier request by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission in a letter dated March 23, 2026.
The development marks a formal adjustment to the remuneration framework for NiMet personnel, with implementation scheduled to commence mid-2026.
