Troops from Sector 8 of Operation Enduring Peace have intervened following an alleged assault on a local farmer by suspected herders in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, took place in Jwakp Maitumbi Village.
According to military sources, the victim, identified as Mr. Timothy Titus, was ambushed by suspected herders and sustained severe machete wounds during the violent encounter.
Upon receiving a distress call, troops deployed to the scene, where they found Titus with multiple deep lacerations. Security forces immediately evacuated the injured farmer to the General Hospital in Mangu, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment and monitoring.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed through military channels that joint forces have launched a coordinated effort to secure the area and track down the assailants.
An investigation has officially commenced to determine the immediate cause of the confrontation and to apprehend the perpetrators to prevent further reprisal attacks in the community.
