The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved ₦10.781 billion for projects covering healthcare, roads, water supply, aviation, street lighting and other infrastructure across the state.
The approvals were reached at the council’s seventh meeting of 2026, held in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, September 22.
The largest allocation of ₦6.766 billion is for the construction of new hospital buildings at the General Hospitals in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Awo-Ekiti and Ipao-Ekiti. Each facility will receive about ₦2.255 billion and is expected to include wards, maternity and delivery facilities, a children’s ward, theatre, laboratory, mortuary, consulting rooms, staff quarters and administrative blocks.
The council also approved ₦1.094 billion for the construction of 400 metres of Olajiga Street in Egbewa and 915 metres of roads within the GRA 3rd Extension in Ado-Ekiti.
Another ₦340.6 million was approved for a one-kilometre access road linking Runway 21 at the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport to its CVOR navigation aid site. The project is expected to address an infrastructure requirement for the airport’s operational approval.
For water supply, the government approved ₦296.2 million for the purchase of 104 solar-powered water pumps under the World Bank-supported SURWASH programme.
A further ₦1.681 billion was approved for the rehabilitation and conversion of 104 boreholes across the state into reticulated solar-powered water facilities.
The council also approved ₦155.35 million for Phase II of the Afao-Ekiti streetlight project and the installation of solar-powered streetlights within Government House, Ado-Ekiti.
In addition, ₦448.07 million was approved for office equipment for the Ministry of Special Duties and replacement of worn-out furniture at the Presidential Lodge and its extension.
According to the state government, the projects are intended to improve healthcare delivery, access to potable water, road connectivity, public safety and other essential services across Ekiti State.
