The Ebonyi State Police Command has announced a restriction on movement across the state on Saturday to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the Local Government elections.

The restriction will take effect from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on election day, with security personnel deployed to polling units and other strategic locations across the state.

However, certain categories of people will be exempted from the restriction. They include election officials, accredited journalists, election observers, emergency responders and health workers.

Those exempted will be required to present valid identification and official credentials at security checkpoints.

The Commissioner of Police said the command was working with other security agencies to provide adequate security across all 13 Local Government Areas of the state before, during and after the election.

She also warned politicians, political parties and their supporters against making inflammatory or provocative statements capable of disrupting the electoral process.

According to the police, anyone found violating the directive or engaging in activities capable of undermining the election will face appropriate sanctions.

The command urged voters to remain peaceful, obey instructions from security personnel and avoid violence or any conduct that could interfere with the voting process.

The police assured residents that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the election is conducted in a safe and orderly environment.

Members of the public were also encouraged to report suspicious activities or security concerns through the emergency contact lines of the Ebonyi State Police Command.
