Domestic Violence: AKIRS Director Condemns Abuse, Advocates Peaceful Separation

The Executive Director of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS), Mr. Leo Umana, has spoken out against domestic violence, urging couples to prioritize peaceful coexistence in their marriages.

Mr. Umana stated this in reaction to the domestic violence allegations levelled against Uyo wedding journalist, Isaac Mefo, by his wife, Evelyn.

“If the love is no more there, don’t turn violence and kill yourselves. You can separate for a while and return when peace is restored. Say no to domestic violence,”
he wrote.

“No Man should beat a woman with his hands or sticks. The only instruments approved in beating her are Rods, third leg, money and alerts.”
