Reports indicate that engineers recently dismissed from the Dangote Refinery for alleged misconduct and union involvement will be redeployed to other subsidiaries of the Dangote Group.

Sources within the company told Punch that the affected engineers would be reassigned to the group’s sugar and cement factories, while new personnel would be recruited to replace them at the refinery.

According to insiders, some of the affected 800 engineers could also be posted to Dangote operations outside Nigeria.

An official explained that the company had no problem with employees joining unions but would not condone acts considered sabotage.

“The workers will be redeployed to sugar, cement and other business units. Some of us are pained because of those affected. They were prospects, and the company had good plans for them,” the source said.

The source further lamented the loss of trained talent, noting that most of the engineers were fresh graduates who had received specialized training abroad and participated in the refinery’s commissioning process.

“It’s a huge investment, but you can’t risk saboteurs in a sensitive system like a refinery,” the source added.

It was also disclosed that some of the engineers had previously been targeted by foreign companies due to their expertise.

The redeployment process is expected to be completed soon, after which the affected employees will resume new roles within the Dangote Group.
