Dangote Cement Plc has issued a statement addressing a road accident in Auchi, Edo State, involving one of its trucks, which left Mrs. Ruth Otabor — sister of reality TV star Phyna — with a severe injury that led to the amputation of her leg.

The incident occurred just a week after Mrs. Otabor graduated from Auchi Polytechnic. Witnesses alleged that the truck driver failed to stop after the accident but was chased and apprehended by a lecturer who saw what happened. The vehicle’s licence plate was reportedly removed before the truck was taken into police custody.

In its statement, Dangote Cement said senior company officials and its insurance team visited the accident scene, engaged with law enforcement, and checked on the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

The management assured that Mrs. Otabor would receive full medical care and compensation in line with the company’s welfare policy. “We express our deepest concern for her condition and extend our wishes for her speedy recovery,” the statement read.
