The Citizen Joint Tactical Formation (CJTF-TF) Nigeria has appealed to the Federal Government for formal recognition and collaboration as an auxiliary structure within Nigeria’s security architecture.
The appeal was contained in a statement by the organisation’s Commander General and National Coordinator, Tanimu Shehu.
CJTF-TF urged the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Office of the National Security Adviser to engage its community-based intelligence network, which it said operates across urban and rural communities.
The group said formal collaboration would strengthen its ability to provide actionable intelligence to security agencies in the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other forms of insecurity, particularly in rural areas.
It claimed that the DSS, Police, Army, NSCDC and NDLEA are aware of its activities and intelligence support.
Meanwhile, Shehu directed the group’s commanders across the 36 states and FCT to maintain strict discipline and operate within the law.
He warned members against extrajudicial activities, unlawful detention, torture, illegal checkpoints, unauthorised armed operations and other violations of citizens’ rights.
CJTF-TF personnel were also directed to hand over suspects and operational leads to constitutional security agencies.
The organisation said it remains committed to a lawful, disciplined and non-violent role in supporting Nigeria’s security efforts.
