The City Boy Movement has inaugurated its Plateau State chapter as part of its grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the group setting a target of one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the state.
The inauguration was held at the Crispan Event Centre in Jos and attracted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), political stakeholders, candidates and supporters of various pro-Tinubu groups.
Speaking at the event, the National Director-General of the movement, Hon. Francis Shoga, urged the newly inaugurated executives to take the organisation’s message to communities across Plateau State.
Shoga said the responsibility of the executives extended beyond occupying leadership positions, urging them to engage women, schools, institutions and communities at the grassroots on the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.
He also called on members to work with the APC and remain active representatives of the movement within their respective communities.
The Plateau State Director of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Prince David Daser, said the organisation had established coordinators across polling units, wards and local government areas in the state.
Daser said the movement was activating its grassroots structure under “Operation Rock Solid”, with members expected to mobilise through families, communities, religious groups and other social networks.
He announced a target for members to mobilise at least 32 persons each in support of Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, saying the initiative was aimed at achieving the group’s one-million-vote target in Plateau.
Daser also said the movement would continue to engage residents on what it described as projects and appointments secured by the Tinubu administration.
The newly appointed state executives subsequently took their oath of office, administered by Barrister Olusegun Ogedengbe.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, while commending the initiative, urged the movement to remain open and work with other APC structures and support groups.
Mutfwang cautioned against turning the movement into an exclusive organisation, stressing the need to carry other stakeholders along in its mobilisation efforts.
He also urged the new executives to take their activities beyond the inauguration venue and engage residents across communities.
Former Plateau State Governor and former Director-General of the Tinubu Campaign Council in 2023, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, also commended the movement for mobilising young people in support of Tinubu.
Lalong encouraged the youth to sustain the mobilisation across the state, describing the one-million-vote target announced by the movement as a starting point for further mobilisation.
