Chukwuma Soludo has been inaugurated for a second term as Governor of Anambra State at a ceremony held on Tuesday at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square.
The governor arrived at the venue at about 11:18 a.m. alongside several top dignitaries, including Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as elder statesman Emeka Anyaoku and the Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Soludo took the oath of allegiance at about 11:50 a.m. before proceeding to the oath of office, which lasted for about five minutes. He was accompanied by his wife, Nonye Soludo, who stood beside him throughout the ceremony.
The governor later signed the oath documents at about 11:55 a.m. in the presence of the state’s Chief Judge, drawing applause from guests at the event. His second term in office is expected to run until 2030.
Earlier in the day, Vice President Shettima and former Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan arrived at Chinua Achebe International Airport ahead of the ceremony, according to updates shared by the Anambra State New Media team.
The inauguration attracted a wide range of high-profile guests, including traditional rulers from the state’s 179 communities and monarchs from other parts of Nigeria.
Soludo was re-elected on November 8, 2025, on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, which mobilised members across the state’s 326 political wards to attend the ceremony.
Security was heightened across the state for the event, with personnel from the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps and other agencies deployed to key locations.
The governor and his deputy had earlier concluded their first term with an interdenominational thanksgiving service held on Sunday at the International Convention Centre.
